Established
in
1988
,
our
mission
has
always
been
simple
yet
profound
—
to
provide
compassionate,
dignified
and
continuous
care
to
individuals
living
with
mental
illness and intellectual disabilities.
For
more
than
three
decades,
Anandaniketan
has
grown
from
a
small
rural
initiative
into
a
trusted
institution
offering
r
esidential
treatment,
therapeutic
support,
vocational
training,
special
education,
and
long-
term
rehabilitation.
With
a
capacity
of
over
350
residents,
we
serve
individuals
who
need
structured
care,
safety, emotional support and a nurturing environment for their recovery.
Our
team
includes
psychiatrists,
psychologists,
special
educators,
nurses,
caregivers,
therapists
and
community
workers
who
work
together
to
ensure
each
resident
receives
personalised
care.
Beyond
medical
treatment,
we
focus
on
life
skills,
creativity,
self-reliance,
and
social
reintegration,
helping
individuals
regain confidence and purpose.
At
Anandaniketan,
we
believe
that
mental
health
care
must
be
rooted
in
dignity,
empathy,
and
respect.
Every
person
deserves
a
safe
space
to
heal
—
and
a
community
that
supports
their
journey.
Our
rehabilitation
programs
include
activities
such
as
carpentry,
handicrafts,
agriculture,
handloom
work,
gardening,
and
other
therapeutic engagements that encourage independence and meaningful living.
Over
the
years,
Anandaniketan
has
also
partnered
with
educational
institutions
and
social
organisations
to
promote
mental
health
awareness,
training,
research,
and
capacity
building.
Through
our
work,
we
continue
to
create
a
more
inclusive
society
where
individuals
with
mental
health
challenges
are
not
just
cared
for,
but
truly
valued and we should try to empowere them.
Anandaniketan
stands
as
a
beacon
of
hope
—
a
place
where
healing
begins,
smiles
return,
and
lives
transform.
Story Behind :
In
the
quiet
village
of
Khajurdihi
near
Katwa,
a
small
dream
took
shape
in
1988
—
a
dream
to
create
a
place
where
people
living
with
mental
illness
and
disabilities
would
not
be
abandoned…
but
embraced.
Where
they
would
not
be
judged…
but
understood.
Where
they
would
not
be
forgotten…
but
given
a
chance
to
live
with
dignity, love and purpose.
For the early ages volunteers our Founder President Dr Haramohan Sinha always use say and practice 5 Ds i.e.
volunteers must be Disciplined ,with Dedication, Devotion and Delegent along with Determination
That dream became Anandaniketan — a home of hope.
Over
the
years,
what
began
as
a
humble
initiative
has
grown
into
a
nurturing
community
caring
for
hundreds
of
individuals.
Here,
every
person
who
arrives
—
scared,
silent,
confused,
or
alone
—
is
welcomed
with
warmth,
love
and
affection.
We
listen
to
their
stories,
we
stand
beside
them
during
their
struggles,
and
we
celebrate
every
small
step
they
take
towards
healing.
But
unfortunately
due
to
their
speciality
majority
can
not
percolate their past information.
At Anandaniketan ,care goes far beyond medicine.
It is in the gentle reassurance of a caregiver…
The patience of a teacher helping someone relearn basic skills…the pride insomeone weaving their first
handloom cloth…
The joy in a smile that returns after months of darkness.
Our
team
of
doctors,
teachers,
therapists,
nurses,
and
support
workers
work
like
a
family.
Together,
they
guide
each
resident
through
treatment,
recovery
and
rehabilitation
—
helping
them
rediscover
their
abilities,
regain
confidence,
and
reconnect
with
life.
Through
vocational
training,
art,
music,
gardening,
handloom,
animal care and meaningful daily routines, we help them rebuild their world one step at a time.
Anandaniketan is not just a centre.
It is a promise — that every life is precious.
That healing is possible.
That hope can grow even in the toughest circumstances.
And
that
with
compassion,
patience
and
understanding,
individuals
with
mental
health
challenges
can
lead
fulfilling and beautiful lives.
For more than three decades, we have stood by this belief.
And every day, we continue our journey —
to heal, to support, to empower, and to bring light back into countless lives.
Welcome to Anandaniketan —
a home where every person matters, and every story deserves a chance to blossom.
